We have a superior x-ray system, which is a digital imaging computerised processor.

This means that our patients can have radiographs of the highest possible quality with an almost immediate image display, meaning they are not under anaesthetic/sedation for as long as what they would be with 'normal' x-ray machines.

In addition it is now possible to link the computerised x-rays into the patient records, so that anyone treating your pet has immediate access to the images.

Ultrasound

We have an ultrasound machine at the hospital, which is very useful for assisting the Vet to diagnose medical conditions as the ultrasound machine uses sound waves to provide a diagnostic image of the internal organs of a patient. This has many advantages as it is a non-invasive procedure and can be used without sedation.

We also use it for pregnancy scans of bitches and queens usually around the four-week period to enable us good visualisation of any puppies or kittens developing.

Please contact the practice for further advice and an appointment.

Endoscope

We are proud to have a video endoscope machine at the hospital. This is a delicate and expensive instrument combining a light source, which is used for visual examination of the interior of a body cavity or hollow organ. It provides a non-invasive means of viewing and obtaining tissue samples from a variety of body organs.

Fluoroscope Machine

We also boast a fluoroscope machine that consists of an X-ray machine and a fluorescent screen that is used to view the internal organs of the body. Although the digital X-ray photograph shows more detail, fluoroscopy is an imaging technique that is preferable when the Vet wants to see a live 'real time' image of the internal structures of a patient.

Commonly used in spinal and orthopaedic patients and can be used in investigations of the gastrointestinal surgery, angiography and urological surgery.
