Sheriff's
Highway Veterinary Hospital is proud to be a member
of the RCVS Practice Standards Scheme. This means
you can be confident in our commitment to the
highest standards of care at all times. Established
since 1948, our practice benefits from the extensive
veterinary experience of its team.
Both our branch at Whickham and the main Hospital
in Gateshead aim to provide all required routine
veterinary services. Both are equipped with full
operating facilities, and the Hospital has additional
equipment which may sometimes be
transferred temporarily to a branch for a short
time. In addition, the Hospital provides facilities
for an overnight stay, if any patients require
skilled supervision. Rest assured there are staff
present within the Hospital at all times.
Sometimes a patient requires more than that available
in routine practice. Such cases will occasionally
be sent outside the practice, as we maintain links
with most of the six veterinary schools, as well
as many of the referral practices both locally
and nationwide. More often, such cases will initially
be sent to another vet within the practice.
Mr. Clark has maintained a special interest in
ophthalmology (eye disease) for many years, and
regularly accepts referrals from local practices.
Mr. Armstrong has an additional qualification
in orthopaedics (bone diseases), and he spends
all of his time dealing with orthopaedic cases
sent from other practices and, of course, from
within our own practice. The additional equipment
at the Hospital means that we are also often sent
cases that require specialist investigations such
as endoscopy or ultrasound scanning.
We also run some nurses' clinics - at present
providing a "no-frills"
vaccination service but we anticipate expanding
the scope of these
clinics in the near future.
